The first-generation GMC Jimmy is a badge-engineered variant of the Chevy K5 Blazer. This full-size SUV offered proper off-road capabilities and ample space for the family to travel around in. What we've got here isn't quite a stock K5 Jimmy, as it's received a comprehensive engine transplant. Built by Petty's Garage, this 1989 GMC K5 Jimmy LT4 has been featured at the renowned SEMA auto show and is a one-of-a-kind job. Do you want to own something unique? Here's the golden ticket.
Sporting a Ruby Red Metallic exterior, this 1989 GMC K5 Jimmy LT4 looks imposing, helped by its 38-inch General Grabber M/T tires, running boards, and carbon-fiber wrapped hard top. The imposing grille surround and bumpers are chromed, and the vehicle sits tall and proud. You can tell that some serious work has gone into the build. Head and tail lamps largely remain stock, and you'll notice some discrete badging to indicate that this isn't an ordinary K5 Jimmy. Inside, there's a color that's fittingly called Ferrari Tan, which is very apt when you consider what's under the hood. Four adults can be comfortably seated in a plush cabin that features a tilt steering column, leather-wrapped steering wheel, power windows, power door locks, a rear window defroster, a heater, an AM/FM radio, and USB ports. We also observe a Vintage Air air conditioning system in the dash, a center console with cupholders between the two front seats, and blue-knobbed levers for gear selection and transfer case operation. A 'By Petty' plaque can be found on the passenger side of the dash as well, a unique and prominent maker's mark.
This 1989 GMC K5 Jimmy LT4 packs a supercharged LT4 V8 engine under the hood that growls and snarls power to the wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and a 4.11 rear end. Power four-wheel disc brakes ensure ample stopping power, and power steering helps keep this powerhouse pointing in the right direction. You're definitely going to enjoy driving it, after all.
The GMC Jimmy is the sister vehicle of the Chevrolet Blazer. Both vehicles are basically SUV variants of the Chevy C/K-series of pickup trucks, and offer a more family-friendly value proposition. Until 1976, these SUVs also came with a removable hardtop, although it wasn’t as straightforward to remove as a typical convertible top. If you’d like to own one of these iconic vehicles, check out this 1975 GMC Jimmy High Sierra 4WD that’s for sale right now in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. The vehicle has reportedly covered 58,000 miles so far.
While Ford had the legendary Bronco, General Motors was backing their own iconic horse in the full-size SUV category of the ‘70s. It fielded their ever-popular Chevrolet Blazer and GMC Jimmy models. By 1975, the Jimmy was into its second generation. Known as the “Rounded Line” or “Square Body” generation, these models were available in both two and four-wheel drive and were closely related to the Chevrolet C/K trucks. The classic styling of this generation of Chevrolet Blazer and GMC Jimmys is loved by fans of old-school offroaders. It's where good looks, functionality, and off-road prowess all converge at one intersection. Our featured 1975 GMC Jimmy High Sierra 4WD has been lovingly upgraded for life in the 21st century, with many new parts and subtle improvements made along the way. The Chevy C/K Series was also marketed under the GMC name, as continues to this day with the Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra combo. After all, why invest millions of dollars to develop a truck for each brand under your umbrella when you can share synergies? Automakers have been doing it for decades, which is one of the main reasons why we have such a broad array of models on offer. The GMC C1500 is basically a Chevy C10, and was produced alongside it. Hence, this 1969 GMC C1500 Suburban Pickup hails from the second generation of the series, and has undergone a full frame-off restoration effort that concluded in 2020. Living in Goodland, Florida, this fine truck could be yours.
If you take the macho-est of macho SUVs from the late 1990s and early 2000s, it is safe to say that the Hummer will definitely be one of the top contenders. The Hummer had major challenges to overcome after briefly falling victim to GM's bankruptcy and becoming a prominent target of environmental activists. As a result, a new Hummer arose from the ashes that not only excited the off-road crowd but also pleased the eco-chorus. Designed to tackle any off-road terrain, the 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup is a huge all-electric supertruck. Our subject example is located in Corydon, Indiana, with just 3,803 miles on its clock. This all-stock Hummer comes with original manuals and exciting dealer-installed features that make this already impressive off-roader even more exciting.
