The Rolls Royce Spectre is one of the most important models for the brand ever since the 2003 Phantom first came out. The reason is that the Spectre is the first ever EV Rolls Royce and by far the most luxurious EV ever made by any manufacturer. The Spectre has gained so much attention that Rolls Royce put the same resale restrictions other manufacturers put on their hypercars like Ferrari did with the LaFerrari and Ford with the latest GT. It doesn't come as a surprise then that the Spectre raised more money than any other Rolls Royce sold through the Naples Charity Auction. As a matter of fact, it raised 100% more than the second most expensive Rolls Royce sold through the auction and three times more than what the MSRP is on a new Spectre. That not only goes to show how special the Spectre is but also how big of an impact the NCEF auctions have in helping underprivileged children.
The Rolls Royce Spectre is the latest Rolls Royce model with long waiting lists making the Spectre sold at the auction among the first ones to be delivered. The Spectre is built on the latest Rolls Royce Architecture of Luxury platform which is shared with the latest Phantom and Ghost models. Spectre is among the most important Rolls Royce models ever as it signifies the company's move toward EV vehicles, following the general automotive trend. It also replaces the last Wraith and Dawn models which were previously based on the Ghost. The Spectre uses dual electric motors delivering 577 horsepower plus 663 lb-ft of torque. That's about the same power output the ICE Rolls Royce models get which means Rolls Royce is still holding back with the electric powertrains. Of course, the Spectre should by no means be slow, but it won't be that much quicker than its predecessors as it weighs almost exactly three tons or 6,600 lbs. The enormous weight also means the range isn't as competitive at 260 to 290 miles (EPA). On a more positive note, the Spectre is one of the most beautiful Rolls Royce models ever made as it closely resembles the coach built Boat Tail. And the one sold at the NCEF auction is especially pretty with its two tone white and nardo gray exterior. And the exterior is extremely well complimented by the white interior with purple accents. As for the pricing, the Spectre will go for around $400,000 to $500,000 depending on the specifications which makes the $1.4 million raised by NCEF more than impressive.
The Naples Children and Education Foundation was established in 2000 with the goal of helping underprivileged children mainly in Collier County. Soon after, the first Winter Wine Festival was organized which included the first charity auction. Naples Children and Education Foundation also takes great care of responsibly distributing the collected funds which is why in 2005 it organized a research with the goal of precisely determining in what regard the Collier County children should be helped the most. The biggest disparities the NCEF found were health related, low quality of early education, and childhood hunger. Until today, the NCEF auctions have raised over $300,000,000 with the last auction where the Spectre was sold raising $33,000,000. NCEF also aided over 90 different non profit agencies, and has impacted the lives of over 300,000 children. So, even though the Spectre was sold for three times what it's worth, every penny of the $1.4 million is well spent considering how many smiles it will bring to those who are underprovided but deserve the world.
Ever since the first NCEF auction, car manufacturers have used the platform to both help children in need and promote their latest models. Some of those manufacturers include Aston Martin, Mercedes-Benz, McLaren, Lamborghini, and of course, Rolls Royce. So far, Rolls Royce has auctioned off five cars through the Naples Winter Wine Festival with the Spectre raising the second highest number of all five despite having one of the lowest MSRPs. It all began in 2007 when Rolls Royce auctioned the, at the time brand new, Drophead Coupe. The Drophead Coupe raised $2,000,000 which made it the record holder. Then, in 2014 the Wraith hit the showrooms and it pulled in $750,000 and the Dawn came in a year later amassing the same amount as the Wraith. The latest Phantom pulled in $780,000 in 2018 and the last Rolls Royce to be auctioned off was the $1.4 million Spectre.
