Few nameplates are as iconic as that of the Ford Thunderbird. A car that married sporting intent with luxury, the Thunderbird soon carved out a niche for itself and appeared in a number of body styles throughout its many generations. Our featured car is from the ninth generation of Thunderbird and is the top-of-the-line Turbo Coupe variant. This 1987 Ford Thunderbird is reportedly in excellent condition and has been garaged all its life. Located in New Jersey, it has just 43,000 original miles on the clock.
This 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe is finished in black, with a striking red interior. The exterior of the Thunderbird was updated for the 1987 model year. Our subject car carries this update, with a more aerodynamic look given to the Turbo Coupe model. The interior, with red leather upholstery, featured analog gauges across the Turbo Coupe trim level. This car has been fitted with Auto Gauge auxiliary instrumentation that displays boost pressure, oil temperature, and water temperature. The interior also features a Pioneer stereo and electronic climate control.
The 1987 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe features the same powertrain as the Mustang SVO. The Turbo Coupe was the highest performance variant of the ’87 Thunderbird. With electronic fuel injection, this 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder put out 190 hp via a five-speed manual transmission.
In 1955, the Ford Thunderbird entered the American luxury car market and shook it up. Aimed at bringing Americans a taste of the European Grand Touring experience, the Thunderbird was called the Personal Luxury Car. It was a powerful two-seater with a suitably spacious trunk and all the creature comforts of the day. Aimed at covering hundreds of miles with ease, the T-Bird quickly became a cult classic. Ford made ten generations until 1997, but they had a brief change of heart in 2002. Hence, a retro-modern eleventh generation was released, and made until 2005. Just 60,000 were sold, making this generation relatively rare in comparison with the early ones from the Fifties and Sixties. So, if you’ve wanted to try out one of these curios, check out this 4,475-mile 2002 Ford Thunderbird that’s for sale right now with us.
Ford’s Thunderbird is responsible for creating the Personal Luxury Car segment in the United States, a segment that the famous, wealthy and powerful flocked to like moths to a flame in the fifties through eighties. Personal Luxury Cars were modeled on Europe’s Grand Tourers, aimed at providing smooth, swift and serene transportation across great distances while offering all the luxury niceties and creature comforts that were cutting-edge at the time. Introduced in 1955, the first-gen Thunderbird would run for a mere three model years before the second generation came about. With a mere 53,166 made, it’s not so easy to find a great example these days. However, we at Exotic Car Trader have developed somewhat of a knack for finding and offering great examples of iconic cars. This 1957 Ford Thunderbird is no exception. We’re told that the car was fully restored around 15 years ago, which explains why it still looks in great order.
Ford introduced the Thunderbird in 1955, aiming to give Americans a slice of that Grand Touring thing that well-heeled Europeans were enjoying. Billed as a Personal Luxury Car, the Thunderbird was a segment-starter. Here was a luxurious, two-seat machine with a capacious trunk and a powerful V8 under the hood. Offering ample grunt, the T-Bird as it became known, was a machine for crossing States in a day, traveling for hours on end, and only stopping for refreshment or relief. Ten generations were made until 1997, with an eleventh produced between 2002 and 2005. This 1962 Ford Thunderbird is a great third-generation example, and it’s had some rejuvenation carried out over the past few years. Hence, it’s a fantastic classic for you to start a collection with.
Ford’s longest-running series to date, the F-Series entered production in 1948, and revolutionized small businesses across America. Here was a sturdy, capable and reliable pickup truck that came in capacities of ½ ton upwards. It offered a great way to transport your goods to market, bring back raw materials, and carry your family as well. Now we’re on the fourteenth generation of the F-Series, and there have been many greats along the way. This 2008 Ford F-150 Harley Davidson comes from the eleventh generation and is the result of a collaboration between Ford and Harley Davidson. This special edition was offered for the tenth generation as well. Furthermore, this truck comes with the Saleen supercharger package, making it one heck of a ride to own and drive.

Ford’s third generation Mustang was introduced in 1979, and quickly became known as the Fox Body, due to it sitting on Ford’s Fox platform. Designed by Jack Telnack, the third generation came as a coupe, convertible and hatchback. Thankfully, it retained the rear-wheel drive layout, despite Ford considering making it front-wheel drive during its early development days. While the Fox Body wasn’t immediately a hit, it’s considered a nice modern classic ʼStang these days. If you’re a Fox Body fan or eager to see what the Fox is like, here’s a nice 1985 Ford Mustang GT for sale. The car has seen plenty of work to make it better than factory, and comes with just 2,000 miles on the clock after a comprehensive overhaul that includes its interior, exterior, and mechanical bits.
