You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who hasn’t heard of the Toyota Land Cruiser. Japan’s finest off-roader ever made, the Land Cruiser has been around for over seventy years. It’s forged a reputation for uncompromising off-road capabilities, and has since gained a comfortable and luxurious persona too. One of the series’ iconic models is the J40, which was built between 1960 and 1984. Such was its popularity that the J40 gained a second life in Brazil, known as the Bandeirante and being made there from 1968 to 2001. Naturally, we got plenty of Land Cruiser goodness in the United States too. Take this 1981 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45 Restomod as a prime example. It’s a two-door pickup truck and has received a full restoration, plus resto-modding to turn it into what you see here. If it speaks your name, you’d better act quick to snap up this one-of-a-kind beauty.
Painted in a straight gray color, this 1981 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45 Restomod’s iconic design does all the talking, and looks highly relevant even in 2024. The vehicle sports an ARB deluxe bumper with a WARN Evo 8 winch. Then, it rolls on a set of Mickey Thompson wheels and proper tires for off-roading. At the rear, a stainless steel exhaust system ensures good looks and a great soundtrack. The interior of this 1981 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45 Restomod features new seats upholstered in red leather, and a Dakota Digital analog gauge cluster neatly mounted within the original factory gauge pod in the dashboard. The dashboard too has gained a two-tone color theme of red and gray. A Vintage Air AC unit has been added for comfort during hot days, and there’s a center console with cup holders too. You’ll also note a set of switches for the retrofitted power windows.
This 1981 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45 Restomod now has a new Toyota 1FZ 4.5-liter in-line six-cylinder engine under the hood with just 500 miles on it. It’s paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and drives all four wheels when needed. Meanwhile, Australian ARB Old Man Emu suspension has been installed.
