The all-new 2024 Lincoln Nautilus is the first SUV to enter production sporting the latest design language by Lincoln which takes the brand to a whole new level and is attractive enough to appeal to considerably younger buyers. Moreover, the new Nautilus is packed full of technology and includes one of the biggest infotainment screens found in any car to date measuring 48 inches, and if that's not enough, another 11.1 inch screen sits right below that one. More modern drivetrains and luxuries like massaging seats and more active safety features as standard than any of its rivals also play a big part in upscaling the Nautilus. All of those improvements make the Nautilus the most exciting model the brand is selling at the moment and those are just a few of them, so let's see what else is new.
The first generation Lincoln Nautilus wasn't a particularly bad looking car, but when parked next to most of its competitors like the Genesis GV70, it definitely lacked character. And while the Nautilus still doesn't look as sporty as a BMW X3 or a Porsche Macan, that doesn't mean it looks worse, on the contrary. The exterior design of the Nautilus takes a fresh approach to a mid size SUV and keeps it elegant instead of aggressive which if anything, makes it look even more premium. The front is dominated by a large grille with a Lincoln logo in the center. But the main highlight in the front are thinner headlights with an unbroken DRL bar that runs through the grille and connects the headlights. The side profile offers beautiful chrome trim with the model name reminiscent of those found on full size Land Rovers. The door handles are hidden away in the window trim so the side line is uninterrupted which is something we are yet to see even on the top of the line Navigator. The rear follows the trend of break light bars as seen on the latest Porsche and Audi models. The higher trim levels also get 22 inch wheels as standard and 21 inch on lower trim levels. The 2024 Nautilus size has also increased in every direction with the overall increasing by 3.2 inches, wheelbase by two inches, width by 1.1 inches and height by 2 inches. That means the 2024 Nautilus has got more legroom in both front and back, plus more cargo space.
The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus interior has improved so much over the previous generation it doesn’t even look like it came from the same planet let alone the same model only a generation apart. The new Nautilus gets an enormous 48 inch screen right below the windshield and above the steering wheel. The screen is divided into two parts with the right part serving as a gauge cluster and the navigation screen, while the right part is reserved for the radio, and different apps that come with the system. The screen spans across the entire width of the dashboard and is entirely uninterrupted. Below the big screen is another, square 11.1 inch screen for your climate controls, driving modes, or whatever you customize it with, be it the navigation, radio, or other apps. The steering wheel is also interesting as it's almost squared off to provide a clear view of the main screen, and it includes capacitive touch controls. As far as buttons go, there are but a few of them including the transmission controls.
Both the 48 inch and 11.1 inch displays come as standard as well as internet connection (5G) plus Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Amazon Alexa. In terms of standard safety and driver assist systems you get automated parking, intelligent adaptive cruise control, speed assist, evasive steering assist, and a 360 degree camera just to name a few. As for immediate comfort, 10 way adjustable seats come as standard with heating and ventilation, plus a heated steering wheel and wireless charging. Again, these are just the highlights but already you are getting substantially more standard equipment than you get from premium European brands, not to mention that the Lincoln's optional equipment is noticeably cheaper. But if you don't mind spending a bit more you can even get 24 way adjustable seats with massaging, an integrated fragrance system, a panoramic roof, power liftgate, heated rear seats, a 24 speaker 3D sound system.
The 2024 Nautilus also offers Lincoln BlueCruise which enables hands free driving on 130,000 miles of prequalified North American sections of divided highways, an excellent feature if you're looking to take long road trips in your Nautilus. Everyone likes to feel refreshed and Lincoln has an answer for those long road trips with its innovative digital scent collection, now boasting seven bespoke in-cabin fragrances, exclusively debuting in the all-new 2024 Lincoln Nautilus. This feature offers drivers and passengers a unique opportunity to customize their journey with a scent that matches their mood or preferences. Specially crafted by renowned perfumiers in close collaboration with Lincoln's designers, the collection features an array of scents ranging from the earthy whispers of Mystic Forest, with its blend of cedarwood, patchouli, amber, and yuzu citrus, to the serene embrace of Sunlight Retreat, highlighting notes of sandalwood, rose, red fruit, and balsamic.
The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus has a base price of $50,415 for the Premiere trim level. Moreover, the Nautilus is arguably much better value for money considering how much standard equipment you get since a similarly equipped X3 will be well over $55,000 plus the Nautilus gets AWD as standard unlike its competition. You can also add more equipment on top of the Premiere trim before you enter the Reserve trim which starts at $56,145. If you want the ultimate experience from the Nautilus, the Black Label trim offers every available option plus unique interior themes, starting at $74,250.
Instead of the 335 horsepower V6 in the previous generation Nautilus, the top of the line drivetrain now uses a 2.0-liter four cylinder with an additional 110 horsepower electric motor. That means the hybrid Nautilus pushes 310 horsepower which is slightly less than before, but we expect it to get up to 40% better fuel economy. The base engine uses a 250 horsepower 4-cylinder. If you decide to go the hybrid rote, that upgrade will cost around $1,500.
The new 2024 Lincoln Nautilus looks better than ever on the outside, and better than virtually all of its competitors on the inside. You also get a ton of equipment as standard and more optional extras than anyone will ever need. The only downsides are limited engine options, although the two available ones are by no means bad, it would be nice to see a performance focused variant.
