Buick’s GS or Gran Sport tag was initially applied to the automaker’s Skylark model in the Sixties, before extending to cover hot variants of the Riviera, Wildcat and Century. Choosing a GS Buick meant that you were availing yourself to some pretty impressive and giant-killing performance. Exterior and Interior
This 1966 Buick Skylark GS comes repainted in black because what better shade for a sinister car than the most sinister color in the world. With its quad headlamps, handmade hood aqueducts and 3-inch exhaust hooked up to a Flowmaster H-pipe, this car looks every bit as menacing as it sounds, and goes. It’s got the requisite chrome bumpers, Skylark and GS badging, but swaps original wheels for a set of aftermarket five-spoke units. The wheels aren’t just for show, they’re need to accommodate the wider tires and bigger brakes! The black interior of this 1966 Buick Skylark GS features black leather seating for four adults, plenty of white-faced aftermarket gauges, and a push-button radio. Look closer and you’ll see an aftermarket heating and air conditioning unit, some aftermarket speakers and a nice white-topped gear shift knob. Yup, this car is full of surprises and yet it’s acceptably comfortable to be used for regular driving if you desire.
Engine
