Ever since Ferrari started building road cars, it has built just two front-engine V8 coupes. One of these is the Ferrari Roma which succeeded the GTCLusso T. It came with a shocking 612 horsepower thanks to the V8 twin-turbo connected to a rear-mounted dual clutch 8-speed auto transmission. The front seats and cabin feel comfortable and spacious. As for the Roma price, if you have a quarter million dollars lying in the bank, then it wouldn’t be a waste if you decided to spend it on a Ferrari Roma. In our Roma review, we will take a look at what makes this car so special plus what the 2024 Roma has to offer. The Ferrari Roma was introduced in 2019 and while the Roma was designed on the same platform as the Ferrari Portofino and carried the same 3.9 Liter V8 as well as gearbox, it would feature a totally different exterior and interior design. Ferrari by now had learned a thing or two about building mid-lying front-engine sports cars and reserved this design for some of their fastest models. While the Roma would be showcased as an entry-level model, it didn’t by any means make it a slow car. The car was extremely fast and featured a 2+2 sitting design. It would also come with plenty of tech resulting in a complete package that would offer customers everything they needed. This body style and designed engineering would remain pretty much the same as the current model even though the 2024 Ferrari Roma does come with a few elements that make it unique. If you are wondering where is the Roma made, this happens at the company factory in Maranello, Italy. Now let’s get straight into our Ferrari Roma review.
The Roma features a long hood and it’s built that way for a reason, it houses the twin-turbo V8 3.9 Liter engine with horsepower and torque figures sitting at 612 hp and 561 lb-ft respectively. This motor connects to an eight-speed auto transmission that was first installed on the Ferrari SF90 Stradale. The Ferrari Roma 0-60 mph time is just 3.1 seconds and will reach 100 mph in 7 seconds with a top speed of nearly 200 mph. As soon as you press on the gas pedal, the Ferrari Roma responds instantly which would make you forget for a second that there are two turbos connected to the engine. The Roma handles corners like a pro as well, being instantly responsive and direct while also being sharp and accurate allowing the car to enter into those corners with precision. The car will respond at even the slightest turn-off of the steering wheel and many drivers may require some time to get used to the sheer accuracy of the steering. As for the suspension, it feels harder on the Ferrari Roma than say, on the Bentley Continental GT which means it may not handle the corrugations on the roads as well as the Bentley. That said, Ferrari more than makes up for this when it comes to utter wheel grip and handling. Overall, the Roma weight sits at 3245 lbs.
For 2024 the Roma now offers a convertible version. According to Ferrari, the drop top adds just 185 pounds of weight and can lower in just 13.5 seconds when cruising at speed of up to 37 mph. The Roma interior comes with plenty of leather upholstery and swede-sprinkled sections as well. You get high-end materials which is what anyone would expect with a car of this price. At the front, the driver and passenger seem to have their dashboard section that curves right into the doors. The instrument cluster on the driver’s side is huge with a 16 inch screen. Compared to other models, the Roma design features a large central section and a very curved design. The Roma exterior design features a low-lying nose with LED headlights set neatly at the front and lying flush with the front fenders. Speaking of headlights, the Roma also comes with daytime running lights that split the headlights into two resulting in an upper as well as lower section. The bumper holds the front grille with the Ferrari logo set dead center. The car also features a broad grille in the apron as well as a splinter located underneath it. The rearward Roma design is complemented by a roofline that slopes downwards with the car also features a large rear windscreen with excellent rear visibility. With enlarged quarter panels at the rear, the car looks muscular while being sleek at the same time.
Sure, Ferrari Roma features an iconic prancing logo. But still, this is more of a grand tourer than a race track star. Because of this, passengers will get access to a larger list of Roma tech and titbits compared to many other Ferraris. There is an 8.4-inch Roma infotainment screen that sits vertically on the dash above the center console. And if you are wondering if the Roma technology comes with driver assist features as standard, the answer is a resounding yes! The Ferrari Roma comes with blind-spot monitoring as well as rear cross-traffic alert. You also get lane departure warning as well as adaptive cruise control.
The Ferrari Roma starts around $250,000 and is one of the most affordable new Ferrari models available sale today. You can have your Ferrari Roma rolling on a variety of wheels, exterior colors, and interior colors as well including Nero Black.
