The Porsche Taycan is one of the very few EVs that have garnered widespread acclaim rather than criticism. It captures proper Porsche performance in an EV format, providing a driving experience that's dynamic and engaging, almost on par with the Porsche Panamera. Plus, the Taycan platform is quite versatile, with Porsche building several iterations, including track versions such as the Taycan Turbo GT. It would have been interesting to see Brabus undertake it instead of the Turbo S, but they still managed to make it better than Porsche could have. They describe their Taycan Turbo S as a next generation of refinement, majorly highlighting the interior and exterior design changes. But before we get to that, let's get into the Brabus Porsche Taycan Turbo S performance figures.
Performance enhancements for EVs are restricted, so as a result, Brabus left the Porsche Taycan Turbo S' powertrain untouched. This means the Brabus Porsche Taycan Turbo S has two permanent synchronous motors, one on each axle, paired to a 93.4 kWh battery pack capable of producing 761 horsepower and 774 lb.ft. That's enough for a 0-60 mph time of 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 162 mph, similar to the standard Taycan. However, Porsche claims the Taycan Turbo S can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 2.3 seconds with launch control, so it's puzzling that Brabus lists their version at 2.8 seconds, given there's no significant weight difference. Brabus didn't leave the drivetrain bare. They added the Brabus Ride Control Module, which allows you to optimize the ride height by up to 200 mm for a comfortable or more dynamic ride.
Brabus always outdoes themselves in cabin styling, and the Brabus Porsche Taycan Turbo S is no exception. Its cabin has one of the most exciting color combinations we've seen on any Brabus with a black and bright Green "Brabus Masterpiece" color scheme. Most touch surfaces are lined with leather, complemented by rich Alcantara, for example, on the headliner. Gloss-exposed carbon fiber elements integrated into the instrument panel, center console, and door panels add a sporty touch, complementing the aluminum components, such as the pedals.
Rarely do you see a Brabus finished in any color except black, and the Brabus Porsche Taycan Turbo S follows that theme. That aside, with aerodynamically optimized bodywork, it's instantly recognizable when compared to the standard Taycan Turbo S. The front end is more aggressive, with a ton of exposed carbon fiber used on the wider vents, front lip, and canards integrated into the lip and at the middle of the bumper. The carbon fiber follows onto the side skirt, door mirrors, and to the rear, which is visually impressive, as is the front. It has a carbon three-piece spoiler and diffuser that optimize downforce at high speeds.
Since the Brabus Porsche Taycan Turbo S' drivetrain remains majorly unchanged, it retains Porsche's impressive fast charging abilities, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in minutes at an 800-volt DC charging station. The car should have a similar battery range as well, but it could be slightly more than 222 miles, given the aerodynamic enhancements on the exterior. Inside, the cabin is dominated by screens. Upfront, a 16.8-inch curved display serves as an instrument cluster complemented by two 10.9-inch touchscreens controlling the infotainment system, climate settings, navigation, and more. Driver assists and safety features remain similar to Porsche's offering, with the whole suite including the essentials plus lane departure warning, launch control, lane keeping assist, forward collision warning, and more.
New, a Porsche Taycan Turbo S will set you back around $190,000 without options. Buying one from Brabus will only require topping up around 25,000 since a Brabus-specced one goes for approximately $215,000. Is it worth it? By all means. And if you're convinced you should buy one or any other Taycan model, check out our Porsche listings, which have several Porsche Taycans for sale.
The Brabus Porsche Taycan Turbo S remains a Taycan offering Porsche's performance dynamics with Brabus' dose of luxury and individuality.
